As Phoenix personal injury lawyers, one of our missions is to keep Arizona citizens and visitors to our state safe. Summers always see an increase in personal injuries. More kids out of school with free time on their hands, more families traveling. Our goal is to keep Arizona personal injuries to a minimum. We do that through education and awareness.
As part of our commitment, our Torg Blog Arizona Personal Injury Corner will review 3 of the most significant injury stories from the past week to bring awareness to and, hopefully, help our readers avoid similar personal injuries.
July is the second most dangerous month to travel on the nation’s highways. In the Summer, Sunday is likely the most dangers day to travel. More summer travelers. Yesterday was a horrible day around Phoenix, Arizona for personal injuries and wrongful death.
This morning my jaw dropped when I saw what had happened here in Arizona…just over the last 12 hours. We can and must do better than this.
1. BUY UM/UIM Insurance TODAY, Stop Drinking And Driving, & Properly Monitor Your Kids: Tragic. Personal injuries to a mother, father, and 3 year old child when an under 16 year old under the influence reportedly blew a red light and t-boned their SUV at 6th Avenue and Van Buren. This kid was under the influence at 4:40 AM on a Monday. JT: What a scary scene on a Monday morning. Mom is in a stable condition. Dad and child are critical. The drunk teenager was detained and will face charges. The SUV flipped, kid was thrown from the SUV, and the dad had to be cut out of the SUV. First off, God bless everyone involved. What can we learn? The drunk kid and his parents are facing financial catastrophe given that he is underage, negligently supervised, and punitive damages will attach. This is another glowing example of why you need Uninsured/Underinsured insurance. TODAY. I hope the family in the SUV had a large UM/UIM policy so that they will be fully compensated for this tragic crash. http://www.azfamily.com/story/29533505/pd-alcohol-may-have-been-factor-in-crash-that-injured-4?autostart=true
2. Tractor Trailers and Semi-Trucks Can Cause Major Carnage. A tractor-trailer semi-truck allegedly caused a massive personal injury last night at approximately 11:00 PM. The tractor-trailer side-swiped a 35-year old woman driving on the I-10 going West near Buckeye Road. She is in critical condition. Thoughts are prayers with her and her family. The tractor-trailer semi-truck driver claims that an unknown car cut him off (this is important when the driver has to make a personal injury claim)/ JT: Tractor Trailer Semi truck personal injury cases here in Arizona are a large concern. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Administration, Arizona is approximately the 12th most dangerous state for our tractor-trailer semi-truck personal injury accidents. The Arizona Department of Transportation reports 1,826 car accidents and car crashes involving a tractor-trailer and semi-truck personal injuries that occurred in 2014. Always be alert when driving near a semi-truck or tractor-trailer to avoid a collision, car accident, truck accident, motorcycle accident, and having to contact an Arizona personal injury lawyer. With regard to a “phantom driver” cutting off the tractor-trailer semi-truck, PLEASE BUY UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED INSURANCE TODAY (UM/UIM). As Arizona Personal injury attorneys, we make these UM/UIM claims for our clients when there is an “unknown” (i.e. uninsured) driver often. http://www.azfamily.com/story/29533505/pd-alcohol-may-have-been-factor-in-crash-that-injured-4
3. If You Breakdown, Get Off The Roadway & Watch Out for Broken Down Cars. On Sunday night at I-10 and 19th Avenue at approximately 8:25 PM, an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended a sedan and forced it into the back of a flatbed tow truck that was picking up a separate, broken-down car. The 54-year-old man in the Sedan died at the scene. JT: So sad to see this massive personal injury/wrongful death. Arizona’s wrongful death claims are very complex and intricate to navigate. Determining who has a claim, who does not, and whether or not to bring the claim on behalf of the decedent’s estate or on behalf of a statutory beneficiary are all legal questions an experienced Arizona Personal Injury Attorney must assess. http://www.azfamily.com/story/29530969/fatal-crash-closes-eb-i-10-at-19th-ave?autostart=true
